Experience
As a tutor, I love to help students understand the content by relating concepts to real-world situations. My teaching philosophy is that I don't like to tell students how to just answer a question. My goal is to equip them with the tools that they need to come to an understanding on their own, as this makes them stronger, more dynamic students. I especially like to devote time to students who have had trouble with a subject in the past. I feel that, with a little one-on-one attention, students can master any content area. If a student can appreciate a subject, then they will understand it much better. I have a bachelor's in Physics and a master's in Biology. My teaching experience has primarily been teaching laboratory classes in biology and physics, but I have also worked as a substitute for grades one through twelve. I have worked with students at all levels, from students with developmental disabilities to college-level science. I have a broad range and can accommodate many different learning styles. When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy cooking and making cheese and tofu. I also like to spend time in my garden and go birding and hiking. I currently reside in Hiram, Ohio.
